Are you a teen who wants a strong and healthy smile? If so, our dentists, Dr. Marc Lippas and Dr. Katie Lippas, have some tips for you! In addition to keeping up with oral hygiene and attending your regular dental checkups, they also encourage you to have a smile-healthy diet. Little did you know, foods and drinks can affect your teeth and gums in more ways than you might realize. To help you have a smile-healthy diet, our dentists are happy to share the following teen nutrition tips with you:

A balanced and healthy diet should include fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products and lean proteins. These foods have the nutrients your teeth and gums need to stay healthy and strong. Some foods, like fruits and vegetables, can even clean your teeth as you eat them! So, do your best to fill your diet with these tooth-healthy foods and drinks.

When it comes to snacking, it’s best to avoid it. Snacking constantly exposes your teeth and gums to the harmful substances that damage them. If you have to snack, make sure the products you eat are healthy for your smile, rinse with water and chew sugar-free gum.
