Dentures are reliable appliances that can replace your missing teeth, restore your oral health, and help you have the smile you have always wanted. If you’re interested in this appliance, then it’s best to do your research to find out if it’s right for you. Our dentist, Dr. Katie Lippas, is happy to help you get started by sharing some denture facts. Those facts are:
-You have two different denture types to choose from: complete and partial dentures. Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth in a row while complete dentures replace the entire arch of teeth.
-Your complete dentures stay in the mouth by suctioning to the palate (roof of the mouth). Your partial dentures stay in the mouth by clasping to the surrounding teeth.
-If your denture is a little unstable, you can use denture adhesive to prevent it from slipping or sliding.
-It’s important to clean your dentures daily by rinsing them, brushing them, and soaking them.
-Your dentures might feel awkward when you first start to wear them. This is to be expected. Don’t worry! It will get better with time.
